The purpose of the work is to preserve and care for frescos, plaster, stucco and mosaics at the site. While treating a mosaic that dates to the Herodian period, an earlier mosaic was discovered beneath it. The later mosaic was removed in order to expose and study the earlier one. The earlier mosaic will be displayed on the wall of the museum and the later one will be returned to its original location.
